Northern Vision Development LP Announces Appointment of Stephen Mills to Board of Directors
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WHITEHORSE, YUKON, October 8, 2026. Northern Vision Development LP (NVD) announces that the Board of Directors has appointed Stephen Mills as a director, effective October 1, 2026.
Mr. Mills is a Vuntut Gwitchin citizen with more than two decades of senior leadership experience in public service, regulatory governance and First Nation treaty negotiations and implementation and in economic development. He served as Deputy Minister of the Executive Council Office and Cabinet Secretary for the Government of Yukon from 2019 to 2023. Before that, he was Deputy Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources and Assistant Deputy Minister of Aboriginal Relations. He has chaired the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board and has served on the Yukon Surface Rights Board, Yukon Water Board and the Yukon Utilities Board.
Today, Mr. Mills is a senior negotiator and advisor to several First Nations in Yukon and the Northwest Territories. He is the President of the Vuntut Development Corporation and a director of Selkirk Copper Mines Inc. and a director and officer of Air North, Yukon's Airline. He holds a Master of Environmental Practice.
“Stephen's appointment strengthens Yukon leadership at our Board table, and that matters for a Partnership built and owned in the Yukon,” said Board Chair Rich Thompson. “He knows how major projects move from idea to approval to construction here, and that experience will sharpen our oversight as the Partnership takes on larger investments.”
“Every decision we make is measured against one test: does it grow returns for our unitholders?” said CEO Michael Hale. “Stephen has spent his career making sure organizations deliver for the people they serve. That's the discipline we need as we work to grow returns for the First Nations and investors who own this Partnership.”
“NVD shows what's possible when Yukon First Nations and Yukon investors own the business together,” said Mr. Mills. “I'm joining the Board to help the Partnership grow and to make sure that growth comes back to unitholders as real, lasting returns. My motivation has aways been to improve the lives of Yukoners and this aligns with NVD’s proven approach to contributing to our communities while ensuring the business is economical and sustainable.”
